The program will be specific to a clients needs, focusing on what motivates them and utilizing that to teach each client how to express themselves in their own unique way.
The participation of a client’s family in the ABA program is vital. This variable is critical to the effectiveness of the treatment plan and its ability to create significant and lasting change in behavior and skills.
Clients receiving ABA will benefit most from the therapy when the strategies and behavior plans are consistently implemented across all settings, caregivers, and clinical team.
ABA is FUN. ABA is not a JOB for the client. At DV, our ABA program is designed to target behaviors and challenge our clients, while maintaining a therapeutic environment. This can be a difficult task, but at DV we are up for the challenge.
ABA programs rely on data collection to determine the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the treatment plan.
It is the client’s right to receive ethical treatment that adheres to all standards set by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)
An ABA program will need to demonstrate that a client can consistently use the same skills learned in different settings and with different people
Behavior is COMPLEX, which requires an equally or greater COMPLEX approach to behavior. Behavior is often multifunctional, meaning there can be multiple
reasons why a behavior occurs.
ABA programs should provide structure to sessions using visuals and primes. In addition to this, ABA will need to provide opportunities to practice flexibility to mimic real world scenarios. Not only will the client need to practice flexibility, so will the clinical team.
DV’s ABA approach will emphasize teaching crucial interpersonal skills. An example would be providing opportunities for a client to practice helping others, which will result in an increase in their well-being.
Here at DV Therapy, we provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy at our Bakersfield office location. We provide clinic, home and community-based therapy services.
ABA services include an individual treatment plan for our client and is reviewed at 6-month intervals.
What to expect:
• The treatment plans for our clients are individualized to their specific needs and take the client and parent concerns into serious consideration
• The treatment plan is creative and dynamic, building on the strengths of a client, while also using child choice, play, and the client’s motivation to develop new skills and behaviors
• We implement evidence-based ABA strategies/techniques to target the reduction of challenging behaviors and increase the consistent use of replacement behaviors with multiple individuals and settings
• DV Staff work to establish rapport with our clients and create a therapeutic environment by engaging in naturalistic learning opportunities
• DV also emphasizes parent education and ensuring a consistent approach to challenging behaviors for all who are in frequent contact with the client
